Subject: Attended the Show
Hruby's birthday show on Sept. 7, 2011, was also one of his last as lead keyboardist for Perpetual Groove. This show reveals that after roughly three years of playing with the band, the keyboardist had truly come into his own with the group. Many of the songs featured this evening were either written by Hruby or co-written with his assistance. This show reveals truly how Hruby helped shape the sound and of the band, and how their sound was truly beginning to gel into a funkier, more fluid, jazzier sound that had radically evolved from his beginning with the band a mere three years earlier. Unfortunately, a few weeks later Hruby would leave the band due to road burn-out caused by the grueling tour schedule the band pursues that leads the band to play in excess of one hundred live shows in any given calender year. Luckily for all P-Groove fans, however, this classic show, taped towards the end of Hruby's tenure, was caught on high quality recording taken at the Blockley in Philadelphia, PA. Early versions of the poppy ballad "Holy Ship" and the existential "Man With All The Answers," are caught here, as is Hruby's original "Drink Then Fill," all of which would be powerhouse singles from a better known, more exposed band. This recording dutifully captures the one-set, high powered, blast-of-energy performance from one of the premier live-acts in the states. The recording presents the former keyboardist in one of his finer stage performances -- on his birthday no less. Download, play, and enjoy.
